Seattle Mariners by 3Ah, there's nothing like a good old fashioned matchup between the Seattle Mariners and the Chicago White Sox, folks. They're set to square off at the batter friendly Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago, a sure delight for the hitters.
Headlining the pitching for the Mariners is Logan Evans. Now, ol' Logan hasn't exactly been setting the world on fire with an inflated 5.06 ERA and a WHIP of 1.75 over just 3 appearances. Compare that with Shane Smith of the White Sox. Shane's been keeping things tidy with a sparkling 1.92 ERA and a nifty 1.16 WHIP over 8 appearances - now that's some serious mound mastery.
Turning our attention to the bat swingers, the Maritime Men from Seattle have a couple of gems to boast. The speedster Leonardo Rivas is having a grand season with his .359 average. His partner in crime, Jorge Polanco, is ticking along well with 18 runs batted in and 7 homers.
On the Windy City side we have Miguel Vargas, quite the man in form, swinging away happily at a .316 average with 15 RBIs and 6 homers. Andrew Vaughn and Chase Meidroth have also contributed with their respective performances, but their stats aren't quite as impressive.
Now, having a peek at their club history, it’s been pretty even-stevens lately. Most recent tussles slightly favor the Mariners however, with 4 victories to the Pale Hose’s 1.
And if we're talking overall regular season record, well, the Mariners come out on top with a record of 27 wins to 20 losses, against the White Sox’s paltry 15-34.
So, weighing all things- and certainly not treating this like a science experiment, mind you- it seems the stars are aligning in favor of the Seattle Mariners today. Those slick bettors should take note.
