Ladies and Gentlemen, fasten your seatbelts, because we've got the New York Mets squaring off against the Boston Red Sox at the beloved Fenway Park. No prominent buildings shielding the wind here hence a slight boost for our batters.
Let's start with our men on the mound. The Mets will be leaning on Tylor Megill,/who's having a kind of a season. A 3.88 ERA and a WHIP of 1.44, not exactly shining like a diamond, more like a dull cubic zirconia. 12.1 K/9, though, shows he can swing a miss when he needs it, let's just hope he finds Fenway's strike zone more often.
On the opposing end, the Sox will wield their weapon called Garrett Crochet. Knocking around 2.02 ERA and a WHIP of 1.08, he sure is keeping the batters at bay. 10.5 K/9 says he's not just a lucky charm, really works for those strikeouts. Now, this kid just might sparkle brighter under those big park lights.
On to the batters. Now, New York has a fine quartet with Taylor, Vientos, Lindor, and Soto. Lindor, specifically is boasting a .282 batting average and an impressive 7 homer tally this season, not too hard on the eyes, is it?
The Red Sox, on the other hand, pack a serious punch. Devers is hitting the ball like there's no tomorrow with a .330 average and 30 RBIs - clearly, Momma Devers didn't raise no fool. With support from guys like Narvaez and Bregman, their order looks attractive, and I'm not even talking about their faces.
Now, when we say history repeats itself, we're not just talking about my exes who can't seem to get a grasp of the word 'goodbye'. Just recently, Boston trumped New York in back to back matches - clearly, New York is having a 'why me?' moment here. The Mets are having a great season with a 29-19 record but their recent losses may have taken a bit of the wind out of their sails. As for the Red Sox, they're wading around a 24-25 record, but have had some luck in the last few games.
So, who's going home the prom king? While both teams have their merits, I'm feeling a bit more generous towards Boston, specifically by a margin of 2. Don't ask me why, sometimes even I surprise myself. So here's the deal:
Albert’s Prediction: Boston Red Sox by 2
