As we gear up for this Texas-sized face-off between the Houston Astros and the Texas Rangers, there's a few notable things to mull over. One of them being the chosen battlefield, Globe Life Field in Arlington, a place where the batters usually feel right at home but the pitchers might need a comforting pat on the back due to the fairly average park score.
On a mound not too far apart, we find the Astros' Hunter Brown and the Rangers' Jacob deGrom warming up their arm cannons. While Brown is boasting a stellar 1.49 ERA with a healthy WHIP, Jacob deGrom trails slightly at 2.77 but commands respect with his impressive profile.
Taking a closer look at the heavy hitters, Houston is boasting the likes of Jeremy Pena and Mauricio Dubon with good recent performances. Not aligned with a shabby line-up, Texas Ranger's warfare will be led by Josh Smith and Wyatt Langford, both of whom have been contributing steadily to the scoreboard.
While the past does echo, having witnessed the Astros best the Rangers more often than not in their last five encounters, one can't forget that the game of baseball is as unpredictable as a chameleon in a packet of skittles.
And if we're really flipping through the history textbooks, both teams are pretty balanced with their season records, hovering around the .500 mark. But as of late, the Rangers have been galloping with a little more flair, with their recent results showing a string of impressive victories.
All these little pieces of the puzzle leave me inclined towards predicting the Rangers bringing some sting to the Astros. Taking into account all the vibes, intangibles, and whatever else floats in the baseball ether:
