I hope you’re prepped and ready for a baseball showdown – a classic tussle between Rocky mountains and Texan gunslingers; the Colorado Rockies take a field trip to the Lone Star State to cross bats with the Texas Rangers. Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas plays host today and this, despite us both knowing that it’s a relatively even playing field for batters and pitchers.
Starters on the mound today, Rockies are going with Chase Dollander; his 8.12 ERA this season is pretty bloated like my Aunt Patty after Thanksgiving dinner. Gotta say, sitting Dollander right now is like riding a tricycle on a highway.
And for our guys from Texas, Tyler Mahle takes up the responsibility. With a 1.49 ERA, Mahle's pitching this season is crisper than my drycleaner’s button-ups. He’s hurled birdies on the regular, with a WHIP of mere 1.00. So, Rockies batters better have 'er uptight or they will be singing lullaby in that batter box.
For Rockies, Hunter Goodman, Jordan Beck, and Mike Toglia have been wielding their bats like blunt swords; Goodman, with his .307 batting average and 19 RBIs, has been the most consistent. Beck looks ready to expand his collection of 6 home runs this trip.
Rangers have their own battalion headed by Seager, Smith and Jung. Seager, with his smoking hot .356 batting average, is the man on fire right now. Smith and Jung are managing decently but are further down the ladder than a cat stuck in a tree.
About their previous dates, I see a mixture of thumping and hugs. Rangers did make mincemeat out of Rockies last year, but this year the snow from Rocky Mountains seems to be cooling off the Ranger's fire a bit.
Both teams have been dancing on the field in the recent games with different partners, but the victory waltz has been hard to come by for Rockies. Current season standing isn’t helping either; having lost 33 out of their 40 games, Rockies are looking as lost as a vegan in a steak house. Whereas, the Rangers are strutting at a near .500 with their 20 wins from 41 matches.
Now, if I had to put my chips down, considering all the strengths, weaknesses, past, present and the way wind is currently blowing at comparison, I’m all set to pick up my megaphone and boldly proclaim –
Albert’s Prediction: Texas Rangers by 3
