Medvedev in straight sets
Let's cut to the chase here: you've got Quentin Halys, about as seeded as a grapefruit at a seedless fruit convention, up against Daniil Medvedev, a man more decorated than my Aunt Mildred's Christmas tree. Halys has had a decent run recently, beating out Bonzi and Sonego, and showing a bit of grit against Rune and Kecmanović. But, let's be honest, he's still Quentin Halys.
Then you've got Medvedev. Sure, he's had a bit of a stumble recently - if you count being beaten by Opelka and Norrie as a stumble, and not a tumble down a flight of stairs - but the man's still got a shoulder like a missile launcher, and has shown he can serve up love faster than a Vegas wedding chapel. Plus, he's got a 2-love record against Halys. Which, while not impressive, still beats out my record of being 0-love against not burning toast in the morning.
So, despite Medvedev's recent mixed results – including some devastating losses which might provide hope to the Halys camp, I'd say put your money on Medvedev. Not just because you'll get better odds than me getting a date this Friday night, but because history and seeding tell a tale that's a bit too obvious to ignore.
Albert’s Prediction: Medvedev in straight sets
