Hubble, bubble, toil and trouble. That's right folks, it's the Geneva Open Quarterfinal, and we got a good one brewing today with Taylor Fritz taking on Hubert Hurkacz.
Fritz, sitting pretty at the top seed in the tournament, brings a sense of dominance to the play. He's defeated Hurkacz two out of two in their past face offs; little to no love lost there. Now, their past can be a window to the future, but remember, this isn't Back to the Future, there's no flux capacitor here just hard serving and slicing backhands.
But let's not forget about the one I like to call the Hurkacz trouble stirrer. He may be the underdog today, but he's only dropped a couple of sets in his last few outings. Mostly, it's been love all the way for our lad, at least in the last two matches. Dropping a couple games here and there is all part of the equation, it's a chemistry game after all.
Now speaking of Fritz, he's been having a bit of bummer time lately. Despite his victory over Halys, the recent streak looks somewhat grim with three lost sets and a lone draw. His inconsistency does bring a frown to my uninjured, but still ruggedly handsome face.
So here's the rub, it's an underdog’s day out perhaps or will the top seed reclaim his turf? All roads seem to tilt towards Fritz, what with being the top dog and having past domination. But sports, it's a tricky game. I've seen horses winning races and dogs chase their tails, and it all looks the same after a while.
But, my gentle listeners, for the sake of argument, let's say wisdom is derived from imperfection. We'll get Hurkacz on a good day, the stirring trouble lad, after one hell of a fight.
Albert's Prediction: Hurkacz in 3 sets.
