Arnaldi in three sets.Can we take a moment to appreciate the hair-raising contest we're about to behold? Matteo Arnaldi, the thunder from down under, against Novak Djokovic, the prince of precision, in a battle royale at the Geneva Open. Pass the popcorn!
Now, sure, the prince has seen better days. He's got that second seed, which looks more like a consolation prize this year. Matter of fact, the last time our sale-rack Federer met Arnaldi, he must've mistaken the tennis court for a bakery, cause he got served a not-so-delectable double 6-love. On the other hand, Novak has bagged some wins, but it seems like his "peak" is more of a molehill lately.
Meanwhile, poor ol' Arnaldi had a bumpy ride as the eighth seed. He's been playing some seriously spectacular tennis. Still, you'd think he was on a diet the way he's been avoiding bagels. After a quick chat with some unsavory losses, he's like a man on a mission.
Taking into account the scruffy-looking past matchups and the rollercoaster recent results, the safe money is on Arnaldi. Nevertheless, let's not write off Djokovic completely - no need to throw the baby out with the bathwater, after all.
