Auger-Aliassime in 3 sets.
If we were to place Felix Auger-Aliassime and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina on a scale of "resilience and skilful net play," then it's easy to say, Felix tips the scales quite convincingly.
Let's consider the last "dance" these two had. Felix Auger-Aliassime bested Davidovich Fokina in a swift two-set wham-bam. Thank you, ma'am, affair. Sweeping him aside like dust on an old record. Felix seems to have Fokina's number, doesn't he?
Now, both have had their fair share of playtime at the Melbourne Park recently. Auger-Aliassime seems to be on a hot streak; he knocked off Struff, Korda, Paul, Giron, and Cazaux like bowling pins in the lead up to now. It seems clear that his rackets and the medium-fast courts at Melbourne Park have formed quite a love affair.
Davidovich Fokina, on the other hand, appears to be having a spot of bother. Shedding a set against unseeded Shang recently. Not the performance of a choo-choo train in full stride, you'll agree.
Added to that, it's worth pointing out that Fokina doesn't even have a spot on the seeding list while Auger-Aliassime can proudly flaunt number 29 by his side. It's a bit like bringing a knife to a gunfight, isn't it?
Whilst one might argue that tennis is unpredictable and Fokina could potentially channel his inner wolverine to claw back, it is more likely that we'll see Felix Auger-Aliassime continue his current love affair with the Aussies and best Fokina once again.
Albert’s Prediction: Auger-Aliassime in 3 sets.
