Indiana Fever by 5I've received word from my producer that I'm not allowed to start with "Well folks" so... Oh, never mind. Let's look at this match-up, shall we? It's the Los Angeles Sparks taking a trip to meet Indiana Fever. A journey that has seen victories and defeats for both teams over the past seasons.
For the Sparks, our eyes naturally fall on the fabulous trio that is Kelsey Plum, who put up some impressive numbers last season with 20.1 points per game. Joining her are Dearica Hamby, consistently good last month with 16.4 points and 7.9 rebounds. Lastly, we have Azurá Stevens, who has been solid both on the point (15.0) and rebound (7.6) front.
As for the Fever? Hot, hot, hot! Just like their name suggests. Caitlin Clark has been doing wonders with an average of 17.6 points last month. Joining her in this clinic is Kelsey Mitchell, who put the opposition to shame with her 20.9 points. And let's not forget about Aliyah Boston, a force on the court last month with 15.8 points and 7.5 rebounds.
The past games have been an interesting mixed bag with both the Sparks and the Fever coming out on top at times. But it seems like the Fever may have a distinguishable edge here with wins in more recent matches.
Looking at the regular season records, the Sparks' lights seem to be dimming slightly with a 5-13 record, the Fever, on the other hand, keeping it above water at a respectable 9-8.
But you know what they say about the WNBA? It's not over 'til it's over. The Fever are sitting pretty at 7th place in the standings, while the Sparks are currently at, let's just say, a not-so-sparkling 12th place.
All things considered, I must say, considering the momentum and where the wind is blowing, I'd say it looks like the Fever might just bring the heat in their home stadium. Who knows though, sports is funny that way. I've seen surprises, just like that time when... oh but we're out of time.
