Now here's a matchup for you, folks—not that I'm supposed to start with that phrase. The Las Vegas Aces are hitting the road to go up against the Indiana Fever.
First let's talk about the Aces. They're rolling with a strong offense led by A'ja Wilson who has been dropping 21.6 points while pulling 9.9 rebounds a game this season, impressive numbers indeed. Wilson's performance was slightly better last season, but you don't really need me to point out that she's still a major threat.
Now on top of Wilson, the Aces have Jackie Young tagging on with her own contribution of 18 points per game. And of course, we shouldn't forget about Chelsea Gray and her 13.9 points per game this season.
For the Fever, their overall performance has been...interesting, to say the least. Important to note is the absence of Caitlin Clark due to an unfortunate groin injury. Clark, who has been a critical player for the Fever, really shuffled the deck for them. Now in her absence, the weight falls on Kelsey Mitchell who's averaging a commendable 20 points per game and Aliyah Boston dropping 15 in a game. The real question here is, can the Fever keep the fire burning without Clark on the court.
Both teams have been finessing similar regular season records, each barely staying afloat at 8-8. Looking at the past matchups, the Aces seem to have the upper hand, but of course, past isn't always prologue.
So if you ask me, and let's just assume you did... even though you didn't mention it right off the bat, I have to say the Las Vegas Aces have come with a slight edge here. They've simply shown a bit more consistency, something I'm sure the Fever is indeed catching.
