My Prediction
Washington Spirit by 1It's clear today we're looking at a game of titans. And by titans, I mean they both kinda-sorta-not-really resemble the mighty Greek gods, but hey, who's judging?
Starting with the Washington Spirit, their goalkeeper, Aubrey Kingsbury’s statistics aren't too shabby with a 7.07 rating, and yes, 11 saves under her belt. Take it easy, Aubrey, you're making the rest of us look bad. Their top players include the triumphant trio - Casey Short Krueger, Courtney Brown, and Croix Bethune - all speaking the universal language of goals and spectacular pass percentages.
But wait, there are thorns on the other side of the pitch too. The Portland Thorns FC's goalkeeper, Bella Bixby, is no slouch either with a 6.25 rating and a cool count of 3 saves. She's more of a 'quality over quantity' gal, right? Now onto the crème de la crème of the Thorns: Samantha Coffey, Reyna Reyes, and Caiya Hanks. Yes, their ratings are great, they have goals to their names, and don't even get me started on their accurate pass percentages. Like they say, precision is key, right?
Looking back, Washington Spirit and Portland Thorns FC have played some doozies, splitting their last four games. They've had a bit of everything – goals, saves, the occasional heated argument. It's been a roller coaster, to say the least.
Peek a boo at their regular-season records reveals that Washington Spirit is slightly more spirited with 7 wins, 1 draw, and 3 losses. Treading behind are the Thorns, with not too thorny a record of 4 wins, 4 draws, and the same number of losses as Washington.
As for their recent escapades, both teams have had their victories and falls. The Spirit seems to be on a bit of a roll with four wins out of the last five games, while Portland's Thorns have been pricking their way through with two wins, two draws, and one loss.
So, drum roll, please. After some rigorous, way too complex calculations, not to mention a coin toss, here it is.
