All right folks, let's put some meat on the grill. We're looking at the Saitama Seibu Lions going toe to toe with the Yokohama DeNA BayStars. Now, the Lions might be dubbed as the felines with sharper claws, but that’s not really the case in recent history, folks. Last year they got swept by the BayStars, not scoring more than a lonely run in any game. You’d pass that off as a bad hair day if they hadn't been struggling to put that damn ball over the fence in their recent matches too.
Now, BayStars on the other hand have been having fun times at the expense of the Lions. The "Stars" have indeed been shining when facing the Lions, trouncing them with an average of more than 4 runs. Not a picnic in the park but certainly a walk down carnage lane.
Regular Season's been a different ball game though. The Lions have managed to scrape together more W's than the BayStars, slightly rough around the edges but with good promise. The BayStars, meanwhile, boasting a near level pitch count have been throwing a mixed bag of outings.
As for the recent times, the Lions are on a slight upward curve, let's say they are 'lion' in wait, with mixed wins and losses. The BayStars, however, seem to be on a slippery slope dropping more games than you drop your car keys.
So, despite the history, I am leaning slightly towards the Lions. Their recent form, like the lure of freshly baked apple pie, is tempting me just enough to place my bet on them.
