Gather 'round and make sure your pencil is sharp, because class is in session for our little Nippon Professional Baseball tea party. The Orix Buffaloes and Chiba Lotte Marines are going head to head again. They’ve flicked the dirt off their cleats and are staring each other down, reminiscent of a Gunfight at the O.K. Corral... if the gunslingers were waving bats and wearing cleats.
Let's dive back into the sands of time for a bit, shall we? The Buffaloes have been showing some great form, lending to the saying: don't mess with the bull or you get the horns. Their most recent game ended in a one point victory over the Marines. Let's just hope they've packed enough of whatever miraculous energy bars they've been eating. The Buffaloes also have recent wins against Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles... and did I mention win against the Marines?
Now, let's not forget the Marines. However, it's the Buffaloes who have won 3 out of their last 5 face-offs. And let's put it kindly, most of the Marines victories weren't exactly what we call crowning achievements either.
Both teams slid into this season with a tight 3-1 win-loss ratio. But I must say, the Marines' recent games, while victorious, have been... let's say a bit chaotic. A phrase that springs to mind is "winning by the skin of their teeth". Not exactly the confidence booster we'd like to see at this time.
So, let's bring it home, folks. The Buffaloes have manifested a stoic resistance against their oppositions that is commendable, to say the least. The Marines, on the other hand, have shown the tenacity of a rabid squirrel fighting for the last acorn. Struggling to hold onto those wins, but squeaking by, nonetheless.
Taking all this whirlwind of information into account, my money is going into the bullpen with the guys from Osaka.
