Bright, shiny Madison Square Garden sees the Ottawa Senators trekking down to face off against the New York Rangers.
The netminders are going to be the ones under the microscope in this clash. For the Rangers, Igor Shesterkin and Jonathan Quick have been guarding the post like a pair of ornery bulls, with Shesterkin boasting a 90.6% save rate this season, and Quick not far behind at 90.4%. Against such stubborn resistance, the Senators' offensive line might find no easy pickings.
Speaking of the Senators, netminders Linus Ullmark and Anton Forsberg have admirably stood their ground. Ullmark's earnings, especially, have been as large as his save percentage at 95.3% this season, dwarfing his counterpart's figures. It'll be interesting to see if the Rangers' shot-men can dent his armor.
The infantry for both teams boast some real firepower. For the Rangers, you've got the likes of Mika Zibanejad, J.T. Miller and Artemi Panarin sending pucks flying like there's no tomorrow. Not to mention Adam Fox, whose assists game is strong enough to help your grandma across the street. On the Senators' side, Tim Stützle and Brady Tkachuk have been burying pucks like it's a weekend hobby. With Claude Giroux and Thomas Chabot throwing assists around like candy at a parade, they're not to be underestimated either.
Having a look at the head-to-head, the Rangers have been treating the Senators like a cat with a ball of yarn, if the past matches are anything to go by. And while the Senators are still smarting from some recent losses, the Rangers haven't exactly been writing a victory ballad either.
Drumroll for my prediction, ladies and gentlemen. Despite the Senators' Ullmark's best endeavors, I'm gonna have to side with the Blue Shirts here. They've been consistently able to press the Senators' buttons in the past, and I'm thinking this trend is not about to change tonight.
