Dallas Stars by 2As we gaze upon the imminent clash between the Dallas Stars and Edmonton Oilers, we see an interesting narrative unfolding, don't we? The Oilers have been enjoying a slightly stingy favoritism from the bookies, but let's see where the ice chips actually fall, shall we?
Start with our eyes between the pipes, where Jake Oettinger has been serving as a veritable wall for Dallas with a sterling save percentage this season. We cannot ignore Mr. DeSmith's phenomenal 96.0 save percentage, either. Edmonton, with Stuart Skinner and Calvin Pickard guarding the crease, present a slightly weaker front. Both have shown solid numbers, but they fall a tad short when compared to their Dallas counterparts.
Dallas Stars seem to be loaded with firepower. Roope Hintz, Wyatt Johnston, and Matt Duchene have been giving their fans something to cheer about; while the Oilers have their lethal weapons in Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid, both having explosive statistical months. Yet, when we stack them up man-to-man, Dallas seems to have the slight edge.
Dallas also appears to have a slightly superior regular season record. The Oilers, the proud team that they are, would not go quietly. Still, it's a game of numbers, isn't it?
As we look back at the past, we find the teams have had a well-contested hustle on the ice. A slight advantage to the Oilers might be conceived, but the Stars certainly haven't been gazing from the sidelines. Dallas is certainly eager to repeat their October victory.
Rolling in with the recent results, the Dallas Stars have been shining bright, in contrast to the Oilers who've been on the losing side of few games. That momentum, even for a team as talented as Oilers, is a fickle beast to tame.
After analyzing the stats, performances, and various factors (that I'm not at liberty to disclose), I would highly recommend keeping your eye on Dallas, they look poised to bring their A-game.
