Alright, we have an interesting matchup tonight, folks, between the Dallas Stars and the St. Louis Blues.
The Stars front line has been on fire lately, with Jason Robertson, Wyatt Johnston and Matt Duchene lighting it up on the scoreboard. Not to shortchange the defense, goalie Jake Oettinger has been in incredible form with his near 92 percent save rate.
On the other side, the Blues have some noteworthy performers. Dylan Holloway, Brayden Schenn and Jordan Kyrou have been leading the charge offensively, however, the goalkeeper, Jordan Binnington's, performance has been a smidgen worrisome with just shy of 90 percent save rate. Not the worst, mind you, but in comparison to Oettinger's stats, it's like comparing a fine wine to a can of soda.
Looking at previous matchups, the Stars have a slight edge historically, but if you only go by the last encounters, you will get a right to maintain an even affinity. They've traded blows back and forth like a slap fight at a kids' birthday party.
The Stars' recent win/loss record is a bit like a yo-yo, and the Blues have been somewhat similar. But if anything, the Stars appear a bit more stable. The Blues have had their moments, but can't seem to shake the inconsistencies.
Factoring in the team's regular season records, the Stars have put up better numbers overall with a solid 29 wins compared to the Blues' 23. Every little bit helps when skating on the ice.
So, in corny color-commentator language, it's going to be a fierce competition, but the team in the black and silver hats has the upper hand.
