Los Angeles Kings by 2Alright, game fanatics, it's time for me to cash in my two-cents' worth on this upcoming hockey hullabaloo between the Los Angeles Kings and the Detroit Red Wings.
Starting with the guys between the pipes, the Kings have two solid barrier options in Darcy Kuemper and David Rittich, who've kept the puck from dancing in their net with an impressive save percentage this month and season. Meanwhile, the Red Wings are flying with Cam Talbot and Alex Lyon, who are doing their best to deny any entry of flying rubber into the net.
Then there's Adrian Kempe on the Kings' side, who's been lighting the lamp like a disco inferno recently - 8 goals in the last month alone. A big shout-out also goes to Anze Kopitar and Philipp Danault, who've been leaving their marks on the assist sheets. Meanwhile, skating under the Red Wings' banner, Dylan Larkin and Lucas Raymond have been quite the puck eradicators recently, showing dual threat profiles with their goal and assist stats. Patrick Kane also had his share of contribution but let's see if he can stir up some magic tonight.
Previously, these two teams had a pretty close shave with each other; the last 3 games split with two wins for the Red Wings and a win for the Kings. Both teams have also been quite the workhorses this season, with LA having that slight edge in their regular season record.
Recent performances show a mixed bag for both teams. The Kings’ royal seat has been a bit shaky in the recent games. They won against Florida but lost to Pittsburgh, Columbus, and Seattle. In contrast, the Red Wings swooped down with victories against Tampa Bay and Montréal, but got their feathers trimmed by Philadelphia, Dallas, and Tampa Bay again.
Taking all these factors into consideration, my spidey senses tell me Kings are slightly favorited, although this game could turn out to be as balanced as a plate spinning on a stick.
