Ah, we got ourselves a doozy with the Dallas Mavericks taking on the Portland Trail Blazers. Now, the Mavericks have been rather decent lately, their regular-season record boasting of a commendable 19 wins and 11 losses, while the Blazers are limping behind with a lackluster 10-20. Clearly, one has been slamming the hoops, while the other, well, slamming something else, probably their heads against the wall.
Let's talk troops. Representing Dallas, we got our headliner, Mr. Triple-double himself, Luka Doncic, whose last month saw him lighting the court with a stunning average of 28.3 points per game, 9.5 rebounds, and 8.1 assists. It's Kyrie Irving, though, who's stolen the show this season with an impressive 24 points average per game. Add to this dangerous mix the likes of ou P.J. Washington Jr., Klay Thompson, and not to forget Quentin Grimes, who's been notably upping his game this past month with an average 13.3 points per game.
As for the Blazers, Anfernee Simons has been glistening with an average of 18.8 points per game this past month, but Deandre Ayton's consistent rebound game with a cool 10.1 average this season shouldn't be ignored. Then there's Shaedon Sharpe adding 17.9 points on an average per game this season, not too shabby, eh? Deni Avdija's performance has been worthy of note too, especially his last month's play.
Looking at past rendezvous between these teams, Dallas has been pretty much dominating the scene. A stroll down memory lane brings us to their last face-off on Tue Dec 24, 2024, when Blazers were left chewing dust with a score of 108 to Dallas' sweeping 132. Ouch!
Circling back to the present, Dallas is riding high at the 4th position in the Western Conference whereas the Blazers are languishing at 13th in the same conference. Based on recent performances, Dallas has been showing some sturdy play with a minor hiccup against Minnesota. Portland, notwithstanding its latest victory against Utah, has had an overall shaky run.
Do I hear you ask who's going to execute a slam dunk and emerge victorious?
