Minnesota Timberwolves by 7
In this opening game of the conference playoffs, we have the Minnesota Timberwolves welcoming the Golden State Warriors. Looks like the Timberwolves have the home court advantage star player Anthony Edwards leading their pack. Edwards has been on a tear in the playoffs, averaging a solid 26.8 points per game, while his wayward rebounds nearing a point guard's average at 8.4 a game and over 6 dimes. Julius Randle and Jaden McDaniels aren't too far behind either with playoff averages of above 17 points each.
On the Golden Ball side of the court, Stephen Curry is stirring it up, in typical Curry fashion, averaging 24.0 points in the playoffs. Jimmy Butler's postseason levitated to 18.3 points per game, which is quite something, but not as shocking as his lack of a country music career – Butler? I hardly know her. Brandin Podziemski has been making a decent contribution with an 11.0 points average. Meanwhile, one of their key supporting actors, Gary Payton II, is benched with an injury which can sting given the kid's average of above 6 points in the playoffs.
Past matchups have seen the Timberwolves and Warriors engage in a nail-biting dance, with their last faceoff going down to a single point win by GSW in a 116-115 thriller. The Wolves however, have the upper hand in the regular season with a 49-33 record, a slight nudge above GSW's 48-34.
This is the playoffs folks, where heroes are made, careers are revived, and commentator jobs hang in the balance. With both teams hungry for that postseason glory, and taking into account unforgiving numbers, my trusty magic 8 ball steers towards a Timberwolves win in this engaging matchup.
