Ladies and gentlemen, let's not waste any time. We're looking at a Cleveland Cavaliers versus Indiana Pacers matchup, and boy, isn't it exciting?
With the Cavs rocking the Eastern Conference boat by snatching the 1st place, they are certainly out to prove their mettle. Donovan Mitchell isn't holding any punches either. His playoffs stats are looking just slightly better than the current season with 29.3 points per game. Don't forget about Darius Garland! With a solid 24.0 points per game in the playoffs, he's not going easy on the Pacers.
Over at the Pacers’ corner, Tyrese Haliburton’s been performing marvelously with 18.4 points per game during these playoffs. Pascal Siakam, not to be left out, chipping in his 18.3 points as well, is making things quite difficult for Cleveland.
Looking at past matchups, it’s a close call. Indians Pacers seem to hold the up-hand in recent faceoffs, but just by a hair. The Conference Semifinals current playoff series records show the Pacers leading 2-0, which could be a kicker.
Cavaliers have had a stellar run in recent times aside from a couple of stumbling blocks against the Pacers. Meanwhile, Pacers have had a pretty consistent performance too, give or take a loss.
Cleveland has a record of 64-18 wins all the way at the top of the Eastern Conference, while the Pacers aren’t that far behind at 50-32 in the 4th place.
Although the head-to-head stats are pretty even, the Cavs will want to show why they're number 1 in the Eastern Conference. Given the individual prowess and the team dynamic, even despite trailing behind in playoff series, there's nothing quite like a good old underdog story, is there?
