Alright folks, or should I say people (since I've been told not to use “folks”), on tap we've got the Philadelphia 76ers and the Memphis Grizzlies.
The 76ers have been struggling, to say the least. Even with a litany of top players, they're sitting at a dismal 2-11 for this regular season. Tyrese Maxey remains a powerful figure on the court despite his doubtful status for this game. If he makes an appearance, he might be the Sixers' beacon of hope with his recent stats showing a noteworthy 27.6 points per game. Paul George and Joel Embiid are equally strong contenders.
Over on the other side of the court, Memphis Grizzlies aren't exactly dominating either, but it's about looking good or looking bad, and right now, they're looking pretty good by comparison at 8-7. They've got their own power players to lean on. Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr. lead the pack, boasting 20.6 and 22.8 points per game respectively. Except, oops, Morant is sitting out this game. Looks like the Grizzlies have stubbed their paw on that one.
Based on past matchups, a flip of the coin could just as easily decide the winner. They've gone back and forth, each haunting the other's house but with the Grizzlies pulling out the most recent win.
Now, put together the weight of injured players, their recent records and last few games, the odds lean slightly towards the Grizzlies. Not the movie, the team. They've been playing stronger basketball recently, and even with Morant out, they maintain a good depth.
So, I'll make my call, and here's how it stands:
