Boston Red Sox by 2We'll be looking at a cheeky little matchup between the Tampa Bay Rays and the Boston Red Sox at Fenway park, folks—opps, didn't mean to call you "folks", how dreadfully informal of me.
Our starting pitcher for the Tampa Bay Rays is Shane Baz who, with an ERA of 4.48 and 9.3 K/9 this season, might have been mixing protein shakes instead of practicing his sliders. More seriously though, Baz could have a tough one here. Meanwhile, the Boston Red Sox are sending out Garrett Crochet, his trusty 2.35 ERA, and 11.4 K/9, which, to be honest, are just some really impressive numbers there.
Now, let's talk about the players. On the Rays side, we've got Chandler Simpson being all Flash Gordon with an impressive 7 stolen bases, Yandy Diaz slugging homers, and Junior Caminero making it home. Over in the Red Sox camp, we've got Romy "Hit the Gonzalez" hitting an amazing .350, Ceddanne Rafaela slamming 7 homers and racking up 21 RBIs, and I must say... Trevor Story seems to be living up to his name.
The past head-on clashes between these two contenders provide a touch of hors d'oeuvres to the main course tonight. The Red Sox have come out on top in four out of the five last matchups, with a close one on June 9.
If you go by the regular season records, these two teams are as close as two peas in a pod, but based on recent results, a fan might notice that the Red Sox look to be on a hot streak. In fact, they could be serving their meals straight from the oven.
Finally, I'm no fortune teller but I have a feeling Fenway might just provide a field day for our offenses tonight. Or maybe the air's too thin in the commentary box.
