Montreal Alouettes by 6If you're into animals fighting for supremacy, this ain't it, folks... oops, sorry force of habit. I meant to say, welcome to the gridiron where nothing matters unless the pigskin is carried over the opponent's goal line. So grab something cold as we get set to discuss the upcoming match between the Montreal Alouettes and Edmonton Elks, a fine Canadian Football League spectacle if there was ever one.
This isn't the first rodeo for these teams. In fact, the Montreal Alouettes seem to have made it their mission to hunt down the Edmonton Elks every single time they're on the field together - three wins in their last three encounters. Now if that isn't a chef's kiss right on the antlers of the Elks, I'm not sure what is.
Despite it being really early into the 2025 regular season, Montreal has a flawless streak going on, winning both their games, while Edmonton stumbled right out of the gate and are yet to register a victory.
In recent times, the Alouettes have been soaring high above the competition, winning their last two matchups with seemingly little resistance. On the flip side, Edmonton's performance has been as consistent as a teenager's mood swings. They fell short against the BC Lions recently, which must've hit their confidence like a moose in the headlights.
Finally, let's not ignore the elephant, or rather the elk, in the room - there's a reason why Montreal are reigning supreme in the East Division, and it ain't just because their logo's a bird. Edmonton, perched at a gloomy fifth in the West, seems to be lacking that winning spark - or as my ex-wife would say, they're just not that into it.
Consider yourself blessed with my wisdom. The Alouettes are certainly the favored flock in this tussle and I'd reckon they'll keep the Elks at bay. But hey, it's football, not a wildlife documentary, so keep your eyes glued to the screen.
