Fritz in 3 setsAlright, grab whatever you're snacking on and let's dive into it. Our dashing duo today has sweatbands a-flashing with Taylor Fritz set to take on Casper Ruud.
Our Norse neighbour, Ruud, has been making quite a racket lately. He's displaying fine form, sending home his last four opponents packing, each without a speck of "love" in their scoreboard columns. Couple that with his favorable monetary vote of confidence, and the scales seem tipped in his favour.
But hold on to your sodas, because every statistician worth his salt knows past performance isn't always indicative of future returns. Our American ace, Fritz, has been no slouch either. Granted, he's had a bit of an up-and-down roller coaster ride recently, but previously he managed to put three sets past Ruud twice, to the latter's single set victory.
We've also got to respect the Tournament Seed here, ladies, and gentlemen. Fritz is the 3rd seed while our ice-cold Casper is sitting a few chairs down at the 14th seed. You don't secure a high-seed locale without slicing and dicing your way through the competition.
Icy or not, there might be something burning in Fritz's strings that could thaw Ruud's recent hot streak. With the past head-to-head and tournament seeds taken into account, and knowing a few chills or spills can turn this game around, let's give it to the outsider here.
