Humbert in straight sets.
A Roland Garros contender, Ugo Humbert, is squaring off against the unseeded Nicolas Jarry in what I'd like to refer to as a "conflict of interest." Humbert's recent record is encouraging in normal-people standards, with an uncomplicated victory over Nishikori, a tennis stalwart. But, considering he's batting at an unintended average of 0.20, it's less than impressive for a tennis high-flyer.
Nicolas Jarry, on the other hand, is having a year I wouldn't wish upon my worst enemy. He's looked about as solid as a cheap lawn chair and his recent record of love-5 makes reading a weather forecast exciting. Yet I might point out, in the most sly manner possible, he once got the best of Cerundolo -- a feat that requires more than a stroke of luck.
Historically, Jarry has been swinging uphill against Humbert - not once but twice. The scary part? He barely landed a punch last time, going down 2-love. If you're one for nostalgia, this has all the ingredients of a revisited nightmare for Jarry.
Everyone knows being seated at a table matters, especially in tennis. Seed 4 Humbert wouldn't merely be smacking the ball around, he'll be looking to lay down the French gauntlet on unseeded Jarry, who's nothing more than a gate-crasher here.
Weighing it all, I am going to predict that Humbert will get the job done. Brace yourself, folks, the forecast isn't pretty. Humbert is going to send Jarry packing within an hour or so.
Albert’s Prediction: Humbert in straight sets.
