Alcaraz in straight sets.
Settle in your seats folks, because we have a humdinger on our hands with Carlos Alcaraz squaring off with Laslo Djere at the Barcelona Open BancSabadell. In tennis, past is a prologue and the last time these two met, Alcaraz was the man who walked off the court with a smile on his face, and a 2 sets to 1 victory in his pocket.
Laslo Djere has been scrapping hard, and his recent wins against the likes of Rinderknech and Rincon demonstrate his resilience nicely. However, his defeat at the hands of Lajović, raises a few questions about his fortitude against top players.
On the other side of the net, Alcaraz has been making his racket do the talking. Undefeated in his last five games, and toppling players like Musetti and Fokina with relative ease, Alcaraz is quite the formidable force going into this round of 16 clash. Add to that, his top-seed status, and things are looking decidedly rosy for the Spaniard.
Given all this, my crystal ball lights up with the image of Alcaraz running around the court, hitting winners left, right, and center. My vote would be for Alcaraz to clinch this in straight sets, sending Djere home with nothing but memories and a coin toss defeat.
Albert’s Prediction: Alcaraz in straight sets.
