Alright, let's cut to the chase, folks. We're talking about the Gold Coast Suns and the Fremantle Dockers. No love lost between these two, the Dockers have had a couple of competitive runs against the Suns in the past. But historical glory doesn't get goals on the board, does it?
This season, it seems the Suns had better luck against that flaming orange ball in the sky than the Dockers. Their records saying it all - Suns at an impressive 8-2, while the Dockers are trailing behind just over the line at 6-5. Dockers at #9 in the standings, eh, not too shabby, but the Suns have been basking in a comfy third spot.
Most recent matchups take us down the memory lane. Fremantle rained on the Suns' parade both times before. However, since we've agreed to not live in the past, the Suns have been cooking, coming off a slew of smashing victories. The Dockers? They've seen some sunshine, but let's say they've also had their fair share of cloudy days.
I can hear the Dockers partisans chanting. Sure, they've had some great games recently, but let's not forget the loss to Collingwood and that proper hiding by St Kilda - a sunny day, that was not.
Gold Coast, on the other hand, they've been as hot as a sunny day in the Saharan desert. Licked St Kilda, overcame Hawthorn, tamed Western, and put a damper on the Brisbane parade. Sure, they took a wee bit of a beating from Brisbane, but hey, you can't win 'em all.
This is round 12, halfway through the season, and boy, it's starting to get interesting. So, here's my fearless prediction. Drum roll, please...
