Brisbane Lions by 46I bet you've already written this match off as an obvious Brisbane win. I mean, last time Lions faced the Bombers, you would've fared better betting on a snowball's survival in the Sahara. But let's not forget that anything could happen...except maybe a unicorn gifting me a pot of gold; that would be too good to be true.
You can't ignore the straight facts though: Brisbane Lions have been the stronger team this season, boasting an impressive 8 wins out of 11 games. They've proven once again that losing to them is as easy as falling off a log. On the other hand, the Bombers...well, with a 6-4 record, it's clear they can't quite keep their engines firing consistently. They're ranked a not-so-intimidating 10th in the AFL 2025.
Looking back at the most recent head-to-heads between the two, the Lions haven't just beaten the Bombers, they've practically turned them into their scratching posts. Take the game on Aug 24th, 2024 for example. The Lions won 87-67, and then, going further back to May 13, 2023, they left the Bombers eating dust with a 87-45 victory. Who needs a history book when the script remains the eerily the same?
Weighing in recent forms of the teams just solidifies the point. The Bombers, after being manhandled by the Western Bulldogs, stuttered to wins over Richmond and Sydney. It was like watching a drunken master trying to find his footing. The Lions, staying true to their nature, bounded back from a loss to Melbourne with a win over Hawthorn, as if to prove that you don't tug on a lion's tail.
So, pencils at the ready, sports fans. Let's pen down my prediction for this bout. Sure, the Bombers might pull off some impressive moves — keep the fans entertained, you know — but at the end of the day, Brisbane Lions just have a much, much better... everything.
