Crusaders by 6Alright, sports enthusiasts, strap in because we're unpacking the Copernican arrangement that is the upcoming blood match between the NSW Waratahs and the Crusaders in round 14 of Super Rugby Pacific.
In the annals of recent history, the Waratahs kept a convincing upper hand over our looming Crusaders, posing themselves as something of a pesky fly around the Crusaders' picnic. Look at April 12, 2024 - the Not Safe Work Waratahs cracked the Crusaders' safe with a sly 43-40 win, and an impressive No Soup Waratahs 37-24 victory followed suit that March. Not bad for a bunch of guys named after a plant.
But are the Waratahs cloaked with invisibility? No siree, the Crusaders, currently comfortable at number 3, don't develop glaucoma when confronted by the number 9 placed Waratahs. They see you, boys.
Examining the catalog of recent hustle put forth by the two teams is like watching a seesaw in action. The Crusaders suffered a cringe-fest of a defeat at the hands of the Chiefs, but they’ve been flippin' between wins and losses as casually as one does with a pancake on a lazy Sunday.
Waratahs, on the other hand, they're handing out losses as if it’s a 'buy one, get one free' clearance sale. The Reds got their unwanted fill, the Brumbies snacked on them, and even Fijian Drua got a taste. A dismal state of affairs.
Sure, the Waratahs might have upgrading their game to the ‘platinum package’ level stored in their back pocket, but records and recent bouts of good old rugby paint them more towards...let's say the 'bronze package'.
