Alright, we've got a bit of a grudge match on our hands with the NSW Waratahs squaring off against the Queensland Reds in the 13th round of the season. Now, I've had more exciting sandwich contents than the Waratahs' performance this year, as they're currently lounging around at the number 9 spot in the Super Rugby Pacific 2025. Meanwhile, the Reds are sitting pretty and looking down from their number 4 position. Currently, a seat in the stands at a Warriatahs game is to leisure what socks are to Christmas presents.
As for their recent encounters, the Waratahs could count the times they've bested the Reds on one hand, provided they'd just had a nasty run-in with a band saw. Our records show the Reds have turned the Waratahs red-faced in their last three meetings.
We've got the Waratahs with a record of 5 wins and 5 losses, and I suppose that's as balanced as a diet consisting only of Twinkies and water. Now, the Reds sport a record of 6-4, which while not terrifically impressive, holds up reasonably well when compared to the Waratahs as Shakespeare does to a restaurant menu.
Given the Waratahs' recent results, they might as well be drag racing with a garden snail. Losing to the Brumbies 40-17 and then to the Fijian Drua 28-14 - it's like they're playing rugby or an intensive game of hot potato with the ball. The Reds on the other hand, despite a minor hiccup against the Fijian Drua 36-33, managed to pick themselves up with a fairly impressive win against the Blues 35-21.
So here it is, folks. The Reds look like they're ready to out as much effort in this game as a koala does in a day, and the Waratahs look like they've got about as much hope of securing a win as a bowerbird in a crow's nest.
