Queensland Reds by 3We've got an electrifying clash lined up with the Queensland Reds squaring off against the Blues. While the oddball part of me absolutely revels in the idea of a draw, the bookies aren't quite as keen, and frankly, who can blame them? Our dear Blues are standing at #8 in Super Rugby Pacific 2025, trying to weather the storm of a rather dismal season. Their record isn't helping quell my apprehensions with a less-than-stellar 3-6 score. They seem to have a knack for close games, as evidenced by their recent battles with Crusaders and Chiefs. But hey, let’s not forget close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.
When we jog our memory back to last year, the Blues did manage a slim, if not spectacular, victory over the Queensland Reds. But let’s not get carried away, as the landscape has changed with the season.
Our Queensland Reds, taking the #4 position in the Super Rugby Pacific 2025, are having a fine season, considering their record of 5-3. Though they had a few hiccup games against the Brumbies and Chiefs in April, let's not forget that they’ve also demonstrated some commendable performances against Western Force and Highlanders this March.
Given the Reds' better position in the standings, their appreciably better season record, and considering the payout data, my gut and everything else is leaning toward a Queensland victory. But it's rugby, not bingo night at the city hall, so don't expect a runaway.
