Now, isn't this a tale of two teams trying to take a stride. On one hand, we've got the Fijian Drua, and boy, have they been enjoying their underdog status. They might be stuck in 11th place, but if their last head-to-head encounters with the Waratahs are anything to go by, they don't seem to be overly concerned. They've shown they can run them close, with high-scoring and tight games in 2024 and 2025.
Then, we tiptoe over to the NSW Waratahs. They've been spinning their wheels in 5th place, fairly steady but not exactly lighting up the skies. Their recent results are an assorted bag of triumphs and tragedies. That colossal defeat against the Hurricanes stands out like a sore thumb, doesn't it? Nonetheless, they did scrape a win in their last outing against the Chiefs, probably still nursing the hangover from that celebration.
So, what can we expect from the round 10 match-up then? As my grandma used to say, "Predicting rugby is like trying to guess how many jelly beans are in the jar - you're probably going to be wrong, but there's always a chance."
The Waratahs seem to be the slightly preferable choice if you're going by their recent victories and overall standing. As much as I'd love to back an underdog, sometimes you've simply got to go with the flow of the game.
Still, it's going to be a feisty tussle no doubt. Expect some running rugby and a lot of heart from both teams. The Drua might surprise us again and bring the Waratahs down to the wire but going by form, standing and past records lending an edge to the Waratahs.
Albert’s Prediction: NSW Waratahs by 3
