NSW Waratahs by 3Looking at our up-and-coming clash between the Hurricanes and the NSW Waratahs, there's a lot to unpack. Sure, the odds makers have the Hurricanes as favorites, but who ever really trusts those guys, am I right?
Just last season, the Hurricanes showed the Waratahs who's boss, with a breathtaking 41-12 win. But past domination doesn’t necessarily promise future success. Nostalgia can be a cruel beast in this game.
Plowing ahead into this season, the Waratahs have sat pretty with four triumphs under their belt and just a single loss. That's impressive, kiddos, even for me, who rarely hands out compliments. The Hurricanes, on the other hand, are doing their best impression of a mediocre seesaw with 2 wins and 3 losses. Much more like them, honestly.
Recently, the Waratahs have shown they are not just here to take part, they're here to take over. Toppling the Brumbies but tasting the sour defeat against the Reds, their momentum has been a wild rollercoaster. Meanwhile, the Hurricanes are toddling along, crawling through their recent games but managing to snag a win against the Highlanders.
Current standings show the Waratahs sitting at a confident #4 while the Hurricanes are clinging to the #8 spot for dear life.
In light of all this, my prediction rests comfortably with the Waratahs in this matchup. Their recent form aligns nicely with a win and it's nothing against the Hurricanes, who are... well, doing their best. As for the margin of victory, it'll be a close one, and not likely a massive blowout like the last year's rout.
