Ahh, another delightful smackdown in the realm of Super Rugby. We've got the Brumbies and the Highlanders going toe-to-toe, and by toe-to-toe, I mean rather unevenly toe-to-toe. This half-and-half competition sees the Highlanders with a record that'd make a wee lamb shiver, at an unimpressive, though symmetrical, two wins and three losses.
Meanwhile, the Brumbies, our beloved antipodean team, are trotting along with a middling score of three wins and three losses. Now, I'm no mathematician, but, oh wait, I am, and that sure seems like a slightly better record. The past matchups between these two teams have also favored the Brumbies, but hey, who's keeping score? Clearly not the Highlanders...
The recent performances of both teams have also been an interesting read, more dramatic than a daytime soap opera. The Highlanders' chart reads like a zigzag pattern, something akin to a mountain climber's jagged journey. Although they've had a couple of narrow losses recently, they're not quite off the cliff yet, and they continue to fight on like a stubborn hiker.
The Brumbies have had their share of highs and lows too. They recently came unstuck against the Waratahs. However, managing to giddy-up against the Fijian Drua and the Blues, they've shown that they can pack a punch when they really put their hooves into it.
Also, note the slight different in standings; Highlanders at #7 and our horse-impersonators, the Brumbies, at #5. Given all this, it seems the pendulum might swing more in the Brumbies favor. If the Highlanders want to prove me wrong, they'll need to lace up tighter and play harder.
