New Zealand Warriors by 8
Ah, the age-old clash between the Newcastle Knights and the New Zealand Warriors. Always an event to watch the warriors clashing into knights with unparalleled ferocity. Now this takes us to round 20, an interesting time, when the seasons are changing, and not just the weather I mean.
You see the Warriors holding on to the number 4 spot on the NRL Premiership while the Knights, trodding behind, stand at 13. It's a game of numbers and from where I'm sitting, the numbers are doing a little jingle and the tune seems to favor the Kiwis.
Historically too, the haka seems to overpower the charge of the Knights. In the last five face-offs, the Warriors have notched three victories to the Knights' two. Sure, the knights got the better of the warriors in their last year's dance but that's one bright spot in a relatively gray sky.
If we peek into the recent run of form, the Warriors are painting a happier picture compared to the Knights. With the Knights' consistent stumbles against the competition, I'd worry about their armor being a bit too rusty for this scuffle.
But then again, as the proverb goes, "just because the cat's in the oven doesn't make it a biscuit," the Knights can always spring a surprise. It won’t be an easy walk on the battlefield for the Warriors but hey it wouldn’t be a spectacle if it was.
