Penrith Panthers by 9Observing this upcoming rugby extravaganza between the Penrith Panthers and the South Sydney Rabbitohs, I can't say I'm surprised by which side the odds are favoring. No offense to our furry friends from South Sydney, but let's face it - their season is looking more like a watership down situation. They're sitting on a less than impressive 6-11 record and scraping the bottom of the barrel at #16 in the premiership.
Meanwhile, those feisty Panthers have had a respectable season so far. Yes, they've had a rough patch here or there, but that is mostly behind them and their 8-7-1 record reflects that. They're currently sitting pretty at #6 in the premiership.
Now, let's take a look at recent performances. Again, the Rabbitohs seem to be testing how deep the rabbit hole goes, while the Panthers have been clawing their way to the top. We've got the Panthers fresh from a victory over the Parramatta Eels and the Rabbitohs still nursing wounds from their encounter with the Manly Sea Eagles. It's clear who's on the upswing.
Turning back the pages of history, we see the Panthers have often emerged victorious in past face-offs. Their 34-12 win back in August 2024 brings a tear to my eye. Pure poetry in motion.
Remember, my dear sports enthusiasts, while history and recent form may sway the scales towards the Panthers, this is rugby. Usually, the ball is oblong, but on any given day it can bounce any which way. That said, I think the Panthers have more than enough in the tank to claw out a victory here.
