Canterbury Bulldogs by 9As we look at Canterbury Bulldogs facing off against St. George Illawarra Dragons, a peculiar sensation arises from deep in my gut, reminiscent of my grandma's holiday eggnog. Is it intuition or indigestion, we'll find out.
Gazing upon the Bulldogs' past strut, they've been tossing the Dragons around like rag dolls in the play yard. They've won each of their last four match-ups, with the Dragons barely keeping them within sight. Even a pair of rose-tinted spectacles wouldn't beautify the Dragons' record against the Bulldogs recently.
Speaking of records, it seems the Bulldogs have been busy burying bones this season. Sitting on a comfy couch of 12 wins and a stingy four losses, their record is as smooth as a fresh jar of Skippy. The Dragons, on the other hand, have collected 6 wins and stumbled through 10 losses. Pretty sure I've seen better odds of broad daylight in Vegas at midnight.
Keeping the recent past in mind, the Bulldogs have fared better. Despite a couple of hounds nipping at their backside, the Bulldogs have outclassed nearly every opponent they've faced. The Dragons, seeing a string of losses, appear to have more in common with flightless birds than fire-breathers of late.
As for the standings, the Bulldogs have dug their way to the third spot; the Dragons, meanwhile, are flapping about in the 11th spot, gasping for air, and dreaming of greener mountains. Perhaps Mercury is in retrograde, or I've been inhaling too much of the chalk dust, but I believe the Canterbury Bulldogs will lead the chase in this encounter.
