Lucky you, we've got the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles winging their way down to tango with the Orix Buffaloes. Time to dig a little deeper into this gem of a game.
Our high-flying Eagles may have swooped down for a 7-6 victory against the Buffaloes just a few days ago, but they're still flapping around the bottom half of the standings with a rather underwhelming 39-43 record. Now, don't get me wrong, the Eagles aren't exactly roadkill, but let's just say they're not exactly soaring either.
Now, conversely, the Buffaloes have been busy building themselves a rather sturdy little hut in the top half of the league - 45 victories, 35 losses, not too shabby at all. Alright, they did lose their footing against the Eagles recently, but if memory serves me right (and it usually does), they managed to come back with a sweet taste of revenge the very next day. Buffaloes may not be graceful, but I'll be darned, they are stubborn, aren't they?
Let's not forget about the recent past though, the Eagles have been showing some signs of life, managing to pull off a couple of solid games, but overall it's been a see-saw. On the flipside, the Buffaloes have been, well, like their namesake, thundering along steady and strong.
So, here's the windup. If this was a beauty contest, the Golden Eagles would surely take the crown, but alas, this is a baseball game and it's the Buffaloes we're talking about. They're primed, they're prepared and they're in the mood for some serious leather ball action.
