My Prediction
Hanshin Tigers by 2Oh, what marvelous anticipation we have building up here with Chunichi Dragons taking on the Hanshin Tigers. Don't tie your shoelaces, you won't be sitting down for this one.
Let's look at the history first since, you know, we're supposed to learn from it or some such. The Tigers have outdone the Dragons in most of their recent embattlements. Those who root for underdogs might find the May 24th meeting a shining beacon. Still, the rest of us will see it as a blip on the radar.
While the Dragons may bristle at being reminded of their regular season, having a 37-44 record isn't quite a feather in the cap this season. Meanwhile, the Tigers strut like a peacock boasting a substantial 51-32 record. You see credentials matter, unless you're a spy or a fake art dealer, but this isn't a James Bond movie, folks.
Our dear Dragons may bask in the glory of their recent victories against the Hiroshima Carp and Erik Barnes, but let's be sober for a moment. The Tigers have been out there, winning against both the Tokyo Yakult Swallows and the Carp, apart from a minor hiccup or two, which again, in the grand scheme of things, is more like a sneeze that gets lost in a hurricane.
Now, I'm no tarot card reader, but looking at all this, I'd say the scales are tipping in favor of one particular team. With no coach names to distract us, here's the prediction:
