Yokohama DeNA BayStars by 1
Ah, the age-old battle between the Yokohama DeNA BayStars and Hiroshima Carp. A riveting matchup indeed. The Carps have been swimming, or rather, struggling upstream lately with their lukewarm 37-42 record. They've been sinking more than soaring, like a lead-filled balloon. On the other side of the field, seeing the BayStars just barely hanging on to their winning record at 39-40 is like watching someone try to drink soup with a fork – commendable effort, but, you know...
Recently, both teams seem to be playing a dangerous game of 'who can score less.' It's as if they're trying to conserve every run as though it's the last piece of sushi at a buffet. But the BayStars seem to have a little more pizazz in their step. They've edged out the Carps in their recent head-to-head game, and while the Carp floundered against the Chunichi Dragons, the BayStars held their own, fending off Erik Barnes and even achieving a draw against the Tokyo Yakult Swallows.
Now I'm not saying that betting on baseball is a surefire way to wealth and happiness, but if I were a betting man, which for legal purposes I must say that I am not, I'd put my money on the Baystars. Sure, the Carp are favored, but I've seen enough baseball to know that sometimes, what's on paper doesn't always translate to reality on the diamond.
