Yokohama DeNA BayStars by 2
Ahhh, the age-old rivalry reincarnated as Yomiuri Giants visit the Yokohama DeNA BayStars. The Giants, you might remember, just barely clawed their way to a marginally winning record in the regular season, but the BayStars, those scrappy underdogs, held their ground at .500.
History enthusiasts might note that the recent head-to-heads tilt in favor of the BayStars, the Giants having eked out only a single goose egg win against them. In their last five asmashes, the BayStars edged out the Giants three out of five times. I know, I know, you're thinking anything can happen on any given day, and you're right, it's not an exact science. It’s more of a finger painting.
Now, sinking our teeth into the recent performances, the Giants... well...let's just say they'll be looking to turn things around. Our man Erik Barnes has been putting up more goose eggs than your grandma’s chicken coop. We’re talking a streak of losses against the Hanshin Tigers, tempered only by somewhat redeeming wins against the Chunichi Dragons.
Meanwhile, the BayStars, bless their hearts, they've been riding a rollercoaster. We've got some wins, some losses, and even a tie squeezed in there against the Hanshin Tigers. Inconsistencies aside, they're still producing runs at a decent clip, unlike, ahem, some teams we could mention.
So if we're talking predictions here – and I'm aware tea leaves might be more accurate – I'd venture a guess that the BayStars have a slight edge. Mainly because they tend to score runs, which I understand is helpful in winning games. Is that still how it works?
