Houston Cougars by 3Let's hop into this one, shall we? Now, you got the Houston Cougars and the Tennessee Volunteers squaring off in the Elite 8. Interesting stuff. On one side, the Tennessee Volunteers with their impressively diverse palette of players. Zakai Zeigler has been a revelation, averaging 15 points and delivering an astounding 9.3 assists per game this season. And let's not forget Mr. Chaz Lanier. With 22 points and 4.3 rebounds per game this season, he's been lighting up scoreboards like it's a holiday light show.
But, let's cross over to the Houston Cougars. Their players, too, seem to have fallen in love with the ball this month. LJ Cryer has been popping in 17.6 points on average, and let's not whisk past Milos Uzan with 14 points and a quirky 3.8 assists. If basketball were a love language, these guys are quite fluent.
And speaking of language, let's learn some numerology. The volunteers, bless them, ended the season with a 27-7 record. Now, that's some good numbers, but not as mesmerizing as the Cougars' 30-4. Believe it or not, numbers do sometimes speak volumes.
Glancing through recent results, well, let's just say the Cougars have been having a smashing good time. Purdue, Gonzaga, Arizona...all good teams, and all sent home with a loss. The Volunteers haven't been just holding bake sales either. Beating Kentucky, UCLA, and Wofford is no small feat
OK, the stage is set. Two great teams. How do I see this game shaping up? Well, the Cougars seem to have a slight edge here. They've been taming stronger teams recently, and have a better season score. Plus, they're first seed for a reason. Given all this, I can see the Cougars clutching onto this game by a margin that's about as slim as my patience for unsweetened iced tea.
