Alrighty then, let's dig into this upcoming NBA face-off happening between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Orlando Magic. Now, the Cavaliers seem to be the popular favorite and I gotta tell you, I can see why. With a regular season record of 47-10, saying they're a powerhouse might be putting things lightly.
Let's talk about their players. I’m sure Donovan Mitchell's good looks must be distracting to the other team because he's racking up some serious points (24.0 PPG in the last month), and Evan Mobley? Someone give him a broom because he's cleaning up the court with an average of 10.1 boards for each of the last month's games.
However, glance over at the Cavaliers' injured list and it starts getting into the area of "Uh-oh." Darius Garland is doubtful, pulling an average of more than 19 points, and over 6 assists per game out of the line-up. It's a situation, but it might not be a doom-and-gloom just yet.
On the other side of the court, we've got the Orlando Magic. Not sparkling too brightly with their decent, but not stunning, regular season record of 29-30. However, the Magic hasn't pulled a rabbit out of a hat to get where they are – Franz Wagner is proving he ain't no rookie, averaging 26.7 points in the last month.
Paolo Banchero is also turning heads; we're talking 22.0 PPG in last month. Magic fans, though, will need to dry their tears regarding Jalen Suggs and Moritz Wagner. Suggs had been tossing up an impressive 16.2 PPG this season, but he'll be sitting this one out. Big blow, folks!
Based on recent face-offs, the Cavaliers have been consistently casting a spell over the Magic. Looking at the past matchups should be enough to make any self-respecting Magic fan reach for a comfort snack.
Position-wise, Cavaliers at #1 in the Eastern Conference against Magic at #7 – well...at least Magic made the top 10?
Without further ado, here’s my take: the Magic may have some tricks up their sleeve, Cavaliers have a slight edge, especially considering their record and past matchups. However, the absence of Garland could close the gap a bit and make things interesting.
