Now here we have a fun matchup folks...oh wait, I've been subtly reminded not to start that way. So, straight to it. The Vancouver Whitecaps are squaring off with Real Salt Lake for what promises to be a doozy.
The goalie situation is - guess what? - a wash. Yohei Takaok for the Whitecaps and Rafael Cabral for Salt Lake, both solid with a 7.02 rating and 7 saves. It's unfathomable how in sync these fellows are!
Let’s talk players. For Salt Lake, we've got Diego Luna, a stellar player with a 7.47 rating, 4 goals and 82.9% accurate pass percentage. Compliment him with Braian Ojeda and his impeccable 90.5% accuracy with passes, and you've got a serviceable team - serviceable being the keyword.
The Whitecaps, however, pack a punch. Brian White has been nothing short of spectacular, boasting an 8.03 rating and 5 goals. And don't forget Emmanuel Sabbi with his impressive 7.73 rating and 2 goals. These boys, they don't just play, they light fireworks on field.
History has been kind to Salt Lake though. Their past outings with the Whitecaps not something to shrug about. 2-1 victories with an outlier of a 4-0 thrashing. Nostalgia isn't the game we’re playing though, not when the current scoresheets beg to differ.
Whitecaps have been in stellar form lately with 7 wins, 2 draws and just 1 loss. Contrast that with Salt Lake's 4 victories, trumped by 6 losses. The ghosts of the past seem to be just that, as Whitecaps' recent games sparkle with victories that Salt Lake has been pining for.
Using my vast sports knowledge (read: common sense), I'll go out on a limb - not really - and predict a win for the home team here but it won't be a landslide.
Albert’s Prediction: Vancouver Whitecaps by 1
