My Prediction
Nantes by 1Look at the spread, look at the payouts. That's analyzed, digested, and ready for some spitting out. Now, let's get this going. Nantes and Montpellier, two teams that ring a bell not just in Ligue 1 but in my nightmares from trying to pronounce them.
On the Montpellier side of things, it's all about Benjamin Lecomte and his fancy move and shake between the posts. He's got 16 saves and a decent 6.74 rating. But, Nantes counters that with a goalkeeping pair that would make any odds maker grin - Patrik Carlgren and Anthony Lopes, both with ratings respectively better than Lecomte's.
Two or three guys on each team? Alright, for the Montpellier men we've got Boubakar Kouyaté, Lucas Mincarelli Davin, and Rabby Nzingoula doing some legwork. For Nantes, we've got the attack led by Douglas Augusto, Pedro Chirivella and Nicolas Pallois. Sounds like a couple of walruses trying to dance, but it seems to work strangely well on the pitch.
Peeking at previous encounters, not surprising that Nantes has had the upper hand more often. And the regular-season records? Well, let's just say Montpellier isn't painting a Picasso here - 4 wins, 4 draws, and much to their chagrin, 25 losses. Compare that to the 'not exactly intimidating' line of 7-12-14 for Nantes.
As for recent results, both teams aren't doing anything that would make their grandmas proud. But Nantes does seem to be doing a better job at avoiding defeat, or at least, doing a better job at pretending they're good.
Just chewing the facts and spitting out a prediction, these two teams make it about as clear as mud. But with Nantes winning most of their recent encounters and a goalkeeper duo that would shame the Titanic's helm, I'll raise a glass.
