My Prediction
Shandong Heroes by 12Oh, what a joy to see the Shanghai Sharks and Shandong Heroes clash again. Shanghai has got a spunky little crew that can surprise you at times. Just cast your mind back to those lovely victories against the Heroes earlier in this year. Some of my best basketball memories, like a cold soda on a hot day.
But let's not fool ourselves. The past is the past and today's numbers tell a different story, and I'm not talking about the kind of story you share around a cozy campfire. Nah, this is more of a story you hear at your high school reunion when you find out your best friend turned out to be the guy who invents the next internet or something. It’s like watching the Sharks try to dance ballet – interesting, but not very productive.
Take a look at the shark tank – it's nothing to write home about with a depressing regular season record of 1-9 and they're languishing at #19 in the standings. Recent form isn't great either. I’m no mathematician, but when you lose 5 games back to back, it’s not hard to guess the outcome.
On the flip side, the Shandong Heroes are sitting rather comfortably at #7 in the standings. The Heroes’ record reads 7-4 for the season, which feels as snug as a bug in a rug, comparatively. And let’s face it, their recent matches are like a violin played to perfection, the sweet melody of victory forming a catchy tune.
The Heroes have some hard hitters in their ranks, the likes of Shiyan Gao and Marquese Chriss have had an impressive season, shattering points, rebounds, and assists that add up to... well, infinity. It's like they've found a magic lamp and don't get me started on that genie! On the Sharks’ end, guys like Tianrong Li and Hao Dai have shown similar signs of infinite promise, but when the numbers don’t contribute to a winning streak, infinity starts feeling an awful lot like zero.
This match is shaping up like one of those moments where the mouse wants to take on the cat and we all know how that story ends. Spoiler alert – the odds aren't in favor of the mice or, in this case, the Sharks. The Heroes are solid, and it seems they already have one foot over the finish line.
