Ah, the sweet smell of freshly churned clay at the Roland Garros. The Round of 64 match-up we've got before us is quite a tantalizing affair. On your left, ladies and gentlemen, we've got Denis Shapovalov from the humble seed of 27 dancing to his own tune. His recent performance can be best described with a shrug. A couple of good days here and there, notably against Martínez and Nishikori, then some other days where it feels like he'd rather be anywhere else but the tennis court.
And then we have the wildcard, Filip Misolic, an unseeded Croatian player who seems to have a few tricks up his sleeve. His recent string of victories, crushing Yunchaokete, Shevchenko, Neumayer and Draxl, do intrigue. Sure, he got pummeled by Cobolli, but that's water under the bridge, right?
But let's forget all pleasantries. We're here for my prediction. Clearly, the odds favor the Canadian Shapovalov, but I beg to differ. I'm sensing a bit of an upset here. Misolic has been on fire recently and I think he'll give our dear Shapovalov a run for his money. However, Shapovalov is still a seasoned player and well, Misolic, let's face it, isn't.
So, without further ado:
Albert’s Prediction: Shapovalov in 4 sets
