Medvedev in straight sets.
Well, if we were playing a glitzy game of pin the tail on the donkey, chances are high that most folks would end up slapping that tail on Daniil Medvedev, unless they've been sidetracked by a sudden interest in needle threading or squirrel fashion. The man has had his way with Jan-Lennard Struff, giving him a bit of a tennis education – one that certainly did not involve hand holding and candy floss. Interesting trivia for those keeping score, Medvedev sent Struff packing the last two times they crossed rackets.
Now, I'd be playing a lopsided game of hopscotch if I didn't mention Struff's recent, shall we say, adventures on the court. The man has had more 'downs' than 'ups' lately, much like a kangaroo with a severe case of vertigo. It'd be quite a plot twist to see him outpace Medvedev, who, despite a few bumps in the road, has been keeping things relatively tidy in the recent matches.
And, of course, let's not forget this delightful tidbit - Struff is unseeded for this tournament while Medvedev has the comfy cushion of being seeded 1. In tennis, as we know, love means nothing – much like being unseeded.
So, if I were to indulge myself in a bit of forecasting, I'd say we are about as likely to see Struff pulling a fast one as we are to encounter a bassoon-playing gorilla in downtown Dubai.
Albert's Prediction: Medvedev in straight sets.
