It's a fine affair here in the AFL, we've got St Kilda Saints going up against the not-so-feather-soft Sydney Swans. The Saints are showing up like a coin: chances flip to either side. With a somewhat disheartening 5-11 regular season record, they may just be scratching their halo in angst.
Their recent results are about as consistent as a weather report: They managed to strike gold against Melbourne back in June, but completely bombed their match against Western later that month. Who exactly are we dealing with here? It's anybody's guess.
But now we've got Sydney Swans, sitting pretty as the ninth toaster in a ten-toaster race. But numbers aren't everything, now, are they? What's that saying about a Swans kick in the AFL? Yeah, they've got a nice little streak going, putting up points like it's a mathematics competition. They've got a 7-9 track record this season, which, let's be honest, isn't exactly golden - but beats St Kilda's record as smoothly as butter on toast.
Past match-ups have been tight, a 2-point difference last time around, and a 14-point difference before that. It's getting hot in here, but let's not take off all our clothes just yet.
With this being round 18, team motivation is roaring louder than a five-iron on a Sunday morning. The Swans seem to be chirping along nicely, winning their last match-up in convincing style against Fremantle, and more importantly, shedding some of their earlier humiliation against Adelaide. St Kilda on the other hand, well even saints have their off days, and recently, they seem to be having more than their fair share.
Without further ado, let's cut to the chase. With the recent track record and the Swans' visible swagger, it looks to sway towards the Sydney side a tad more convincingly.
