Hawthorn Hawks by 35
Oh, strap yourselves in for a ride folks, because we've got a matchup on our hands that might just leave us parched for excitement: the Hawthorn Hawks and the North Melbourne Kangaroos. Now I know, my dear, smart viewers, it might not seem like a marquee game. It might be more exciting to watch paint dry. But stick with me here.
Hawks, ah good all Hawks. They've been playing like they're scared of the ball. Somehow, they're still sitting pretty at #5 in the AFL standings this season with a record of 9-5. They must have stumbled onto a lucky charm because their recent play has been unexceptional. We've got thrilling results like barely clipping the win against Adelaide by 3 points, and then being walloped by Collingwood with a blowout of 51 points.
Flipping the coin, we land on North Melbourne Kangaroos. The Roos are having an uninspiring season, to be kind, hovering down at #16 on the standings with a 4-9-1 record. Somehow, they managed to break free from their unlucky streak with their most recent win against Carlton. But, we must remember one swallow does not a summer make.
Looking at their previous bouts, this one-sided rivalry is all Hawks. They've been using the Roos as trampoline since 2023, outscoring them by a drastic margin each time they meet.
So what's my prediction, you ask? Well with a past like that and their current form, even with their inconsistent play, it's like asking me to pick between a seasoned jockey and a racing snail. I reckon the Hawks have got this one in the bag. And considering the Roos' struggles to put points on the board their recent games, I'd say the Hawks won't just win, they'll do it with a little style.
